owa security software firm to open second office
owa security software firm to open second office, WESTBY — SecurityCoverage, a Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based provider of personal security software and personal computer support services, is opening an office within the Vernon Telephone Cooperative building at 103 N. Main St. in Westby. It will be the firm’s second call center office.
The new office is in leased space, will be fully operational by March 22 and will begin with six to eight employees, said Teisha Welsh, the firm’s marketing manager. SecurityCoverage plans to add another 20 to 25 employees over the next 18 to 24 months, she said.Howard Sherpe, marketing manager at VTC, said that six people who had been employees with VTC will be losing their jobs due to the move. However, he added, all have been offered jobs by SecurityCoverage.
Vernon Telephone Cooperative provides help-desk service for seven Wisconsin telephone companies for voice, video and Internet support. SecurityCoverage is assuming that function and also will serve other customers.
“SecurityCoverage has experienced solid growth within (Wisconsin) over the past year and we currently work with approximately 20 ISPs (Internet service providers) and telecom providers in Wisconsin,” Welsh said. “A second site allows us to serve this growing numbers of Wisconsin partners and customer base and enhances the company’s disaster recovery plan with a fully redundant center.”
Support calls that will be handled by the Westby center will range from Internet connection issues to SecurityCoverage product support, virus removal and advanced virtual personal computer repair.
“I think this is great,” Westby Mayor Daniel Jefson said. “It’s going to be a great opportunity for Westby.”
Jefson said any community adding jobs during the existing recession should be excited and thankful.
The company primarily offers its services through partnerships with Internet service providers, telecommunications and cable companies, and financial institutions.
